Advanced Solutions Showcases Simulation for Manufacturing with FEA
Mastering Finite Element Analysis

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – April 30, 2015: Advanced Solutions, an Autodesk Platinum Partner and Authorized Training Center (ATC), will host the Mastering FEA Simulation Workshop for the Manufacturing industry in Columbus, Ohio.

This free one-day workshop, we will focus on the application of finite element analysis (FEA) simulation tools. The presentation will include expert tips on best practices and application to help make every engineer successful with simulation. As well as, addressing several questions continuously asked throughout the manufacturing industry:

•       How can I determine if I have over-constrained my model?
•       Do my loads really represent real-world behavior?
•       Part or Assembly?
•       What is the best CAD model to start with? Can I over-simplify?
•       When should I use Shells, Beams, Plane Stress or Axisymmetric?
•       Do I need nonlinear?
•       What result quantity is important for my material? My design criteria?
•       Can I trust my results?
•       Should I consider dynamic effects?

Bart McPheeters, Autodesk Senior Technical Specialist, will provide a dynamic walkthrough of the FEA simulation process within the day-long agenda. Bart has been a consultant, instructor, and engineer working with FEA in product design and analysis for over 20 years. He has taught many classes in practical finite element theory and the use of finite element software. Through his career as an application engineer, he has seen FEA applied in many new and different ways in many industries for many types of objects, from small parts to full ships. He has learned first-hand the importance of properly applied simulation for accurate prediction and is the author of several technical papers on finite element analysis. Bart is currently a Senior Tech Specialist at Autodesk working with the Mechanical Simulation Task Force. Previously, Bart has worked with and instructed and/or consulted using CSA, MSC, NX and NEi Nastran, NEi Explicit MSC Dytran, MSC Marc, MSC Patran, ABAQUS, LS-Dyna, & FEMAP.

During the workshop, Bart will address Key Concepts, answer Industry Challenges, and demonstrate CAD for FEA, Advanced Boundary Conditions, Material Properties, Failure Analysis, Correlating Analysis, as well as Nonlinear and Dynamic Analysis.

The Mastering FEA Simulation Workshop will take place on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at the Ohio State Student Union in Columbus, Ohio at 8:00 am. The day will include both a hearty breakfast and lunch buffet to nourish attendees throughout the workshop. Seating is limited and registration is filling quickly.

Registration is underway, today! Advanced Solutions is excited to offer the Mastering FEA workshop as part of its ongoing complimentary educational series open to the Manufacturing, Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Infrastructure industries.
